After earlier experiences working with parish church choirs, the boys of Carlisle Cathedral, Carlisle Choral Society and assisting with choral classes and the Academy Chamber Choir at the RSAMD, Jeremy took up the newly-created post of Director of Music at Northampton RC Cathedral in 2001 and established a lively programme involving 50 singers presenting concerts and choral and singing workshops throughout the diocese. He went on to combine this with the post of Acting Director of Music at All Saints', Northampton, where he directed the choirs' daily choral activity and produced a recording of French choral music on the Lammas label as well as arranging and directing a choir tour, teaching, coaching and running a recital series.
Jeremy works with instrumental ensembles of all sizes, both professional and amateur. Recent engagements include directing Poulenc's Gloria with the massed choirs of Stamford Choral and Stamford Endowed Schools accompanied by the Chameleon Arts Orchestra, Bach's St John Passion with Stamford Choral and Charivari Agréable, Handel's Messiah with Stamford Choral and the Musical and Amicable Society, Mozart's Requiem with the Chameleon Arts Orchestra, Bernstein's Chichester Psalms with Stamford Choral and local players and Vivaldi's Gloria with Stamford Choral and locally-based players.
Jeremy’s choir training is very much informed by his own experiences as a singer, choir member and organist, and he enjoys the many different aspects of building and developing choirs.
He maintains a busy schedule as a choral conductor and is currently director of Stamford Choral, Musical Director of the St Peter’s Singers, Peterborough, Director of the Stamford Consort and Parish Musician at St Joseph’s, Oakham.
